Ed has enjoyed many different careers in his life time. His career adventures have taken him through pro football, banking, insurance, real estate development and sales, and sports broadcasting.

He is probably best known for his 9-year career as a running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. He remains the Chiefs 2nd leading rusher with 4,451 yards. His 350 total combined yards in the 1971 AFC playoff game against the Miami Dolphins is still a NFL record. That performance was rated as the 7th best individual performance in the first 75 years of the NFL.

Ed retired from football after the 1977 season and moved to his present home near Aspen, Colorado. He is active in real estate development and sports broadcasting. Private golf development and Costa Rica resort development fills most of his schedule until fall arrives, and his weeks are dedicated to the University of Iowa football season. Ed joins play-by-play announcer Gary Dolphin to bring the action to Hawkeye fans over the Learfield radio network.

Ed’s real estate and golf activities keep him busy the rest of the year. He travels to Costa Rica frequently to enjoy time at the Hotel Club del Mar Beach Resort that he helped develop, where he remains a managing partner. Club del Mar is located on one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches near the town of Jaco Beach. The surfing, fishing and adventure tours are some of the finest in Central America. Ed has plans for a new boutique resort near the marina planned for Flamingo Beach in the Guanacasta area of northwest Costa Rica.

Ed’s golf interest centers in his development involvement with two of America’s finest private golf resorts. The Roaring Fork Club, located near Basalt, Colorado, combines golf and fly fishing; and the Mayacama Club, which offers golf and a wine country experience, located in the Santa Rosa Mountains 60 miles north of San Francisco.

Ed continues to seek new adventures. His hobbies are golf, skiing, hunting, and fishing. He lives in the beautiful mountain valley of Emma near Basalt, Colorado with his wife, Vicki.
